Job Description

Mercury Systems, Memory and Storage Solutions is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work with members of our secure SSD team to perform analysis of electronic circuits including: Researching and selecting components, aiding with debug, testing, and VHDL simulation for new secure storage products.
This position provides a rare opportunity for an electronic or electrical engineering student to learn about NAND flash based hard drives, encryption, FPGAs, sensors, and digital electronics while working alongside a team of seasoned electrical, firmware, and CAD engineers.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Proficient in with lab equipment such as Power Supplies, Soldering tools, Scopes, Logic Analyzers, and Protocol Analyzers.
Learn to apply engineering skills including analysis, investigation, and simulation to real world projects.
Maintain CAD library, create new schematic symbols, modify existing schematic symbols.
Implement minor changes and updates to existing schematic designs.
Review schematic netlists for common errors or omissions.
Participate in schematic and PCB layout reviews.
Use VHDL tools to design entities then simulate the entities to verify proper operation.
Implement block diagrams of product architecture under supervision of design engineers.
Contribute to the design, debug, and test of complex surface mount printed circuit boards.
Participate in the functional debug of prototype PCBs.
Attend and participate in design reviews and product proposals.
Implement Excel spreadsheets to demonstrate product performance.
Aid production engineers in the debug of newly assembled product.
Create and update documentation describing product operation.
Consult with team members and other staff, as necessary, to successfully complete tasks.
Provide support, as needed, to help resolve customer technical issues.
Learn to use professional concepts. Apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
Other design, development, and support tasks as assigned.

2+ years VHDL design experience
4 year electrical engineering or electronic engineering degree program.
Good understanding of logic concepts such as AND, OR, XOR, D-FLOPs, processors and memory.
Basic understanding of the operation of Diodes, Transistors, FETs, capacitors and inductors.
Microsoft Word, and Excel skills
Ability and desire to learn quickly.
Ability to read and understand schematics incorporating digital logic.
Knowledge of binary and hexadecimal number systems
Ability to think out-of-the-box and create unique solutions to complex problems.
Experience soldering very small surface mount components to aid in system debug is preferred.
Experience working with schematic capture tools or programming in C is preferred
Outstanding work ethic with the passion and energy to meet commitments and schedules.
Excellent writing, spelling, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
