Process Research and Development in Merck Research Laboratories at the West Point, PA site is seeking an applicant to participate in Biologics Pilot plant, Bioprocess Clinical Manufacturing & Technology. Assignment will involve close participation with various department stakeholders to achieve an overall goal with heavy impact.

Duties may include close collaboration with Process Operations and Infrastructure teams to implement new technology/device in manufacturing operations (GMP environment) and develop a Process database which can be used to compare process data between different processes. Responsibilities will also include review and verification of facility and equipment P&ID drawings to ensure accuracy. Individual will also be responsible for reviewing equipment documentation and working with third party vendors/suppliers to build a current equipment parts inventory system. Safe work conduct will be expected at all times. Individual will be expected to provide written documentation of data and/or progress and provide oral presentation to work group at conclusion of assignment.

Skill sets required are good computer abilities, strong interpersonal skills, decision making and creative thinking skills. Comfortable using new or unique equipment and technology. Good Documentation Practice (GDP) technique is preferred.

This is a full- time co-op position based in West Point, PA. Housing subsidy is not available as part of this program and if required by the student must be funded 100% by the student.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

* Candidates must be pursing a degree (BS or MS) in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or relevant discipline.

Required Experience and Skills:

* Candidates must be available for full-time employment for 6 months with targeted start date in Fall 2019.
* Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills and writing skills, with an attention to detail and an ability to work independently.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

* Candidates should have a G.P.A of 3.0 or higher
* Candidates should have previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or laboratory environment is preferred but is not a requirement.
