Job Description

Purpose of the Position: To allow students to have the opportunity to gain real world working experience in the Mercedes-Benz manufacturing environment in either one or multiple departments during his/her term(s).

Main Fields of Study:

Mechanical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Industrial Engineering

Computer Engineering

Information Systems

Operations Management

Supply Chain Logistics

Finance and Accounting

Human Resources

Essential Functions:

Work with respective management and mentor to structure a main project for the term.

Perform daily/weekly tasks as instructed by your supervisor and/or mentor.

Schedule and attend meetings with your supervisor and/or mentor to gain feedback and discuss progress on the project and tasks assigned.

Conduct an end-of-term presentation and/or final presentation with your team including your respective E4, E3, and E2 (if final).

Complete required trainings for the department, including but not limited to Mercedes Production Systems (MPS).

Act as an ambassador for the company by demonstrating integrity and maintaining corporate values with a positive and energetic attitude.

Marginal Functions: (List responsibilities which are not essential, but may be required)

May perform other task as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.

Applicants must be able to work full time at the plant in Tuscaloosa during their Co-Op or internship work term(s).

Education: Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled as a student in an accredited university in a relevant field of study and in good-standing.

Must be at least sophomore level in program of study.

Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA which is to be maintained throughout the program.

Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.: Ability to effectively and efficiently operate a computer with such programs as Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Skills: Dependent upon department or working area
