Job Overview

The Assistant Controller assists the controller with the financial functions and systems at DDR East including financial projections, planning, reporting, cost accounting, and month-end financial reporting. The position is a great career development opportunity to become a future controller at a manufacturing plant or corporate office within Daimler Trucks North America. Potential relocation expense recovery is available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

* Analyze assigned General Ledger account results as compared to forecast and be able to explain variances.


* Perform financial statement analysis and document meaningful explanations for fluctuations.


* Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.


* Develop and implement process and procedure improvements to achieve efficiencies.


* Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.


* Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.


* Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.


* Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.


* Provide cost accounting support for the facility.


* Assist in preparation of sales quotes to customers.


* Coordinate the tracking and reporting of capital expenditures.


* Provide ad hoc support to other remanufacturing locations and CFO.


* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college with 3 years of related experience required


* An attached resume is required


* Four year degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline preferred.


* Two to five years in accounting in a manufacturing environment or a combination of education and experience deemed to be equivalent required.


* Must be results-oriented and demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team environment as well as to lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams required.


* Demonstrate success working in highly collaborative environments with a track record of accomplishments in measurable business metrics required.


* Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, writing and presentation skills required.


* Familiarity with computer applications and/or controlled systems required.


* High analytical and problem solving ability required.


* High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and motivate employees required.


* Excellent project management skills including successful leadership of projects from planning phase through completion required.


* Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial analysis and reporting of financial data required.


* Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership techniques and production methods required.


* High degree of ethics and integrity required.


* Proficient knowledge of GAAP and IFRS preferred.
