The Formulation Technician will be performing many wet chemistry techniques in a laboratory. The position will require communication and collaboration between Managers, Scientists, and Engineers from the R&D Team to accomplish tasks in an efficient and timely manner. A majority of the responsibility will be focused in solution and buffer making, with basic UV-Vis assays, requiring a strong background in chemistry to complete.

A Day in the Life

Position Responsibilities

Take direction, follow procedures on travelers and provide clear feedback and communication to the team in order to further improve processes

Buffer preparation and UV-Vis assay - Buffer making including weighing, measuring, and mixing chemicals with subsequent measurement of pH

Some processes will require the Formulation Technician to perform UV-Vis assay measurements on the resulting solution to confirm acceptance criteria

Formulation and preparation using organic solvents, will work with a fume hood and appropriate PPE

Capture work in laboratory notebooks or on travelers

Work closely with R&D personnel to design and complete experiments, analysis of the results may be required.

Proactive in problem solving, independent in way of thought and contributes to ideas when situations are called upon

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience

Nice to Have

* Undergraduate Degree in the Sciences
* Chemistry background in either professional or academic experience
* Basic laboratory techniques in weighing, measuring, pH, and mixing, using balances, pH meters, micro pipettes, and UV-Vis instrumentation
* Demonstrated computer skills
* Ability to create and edit Excel spreadsheets
* Undergraduate degree in Chemistry or Biology
* Proactive problem solver
* Protein and enzyme knowledge
* Exposure to organic synthesis; polymer or small molecules
* Experience using laboratory tools such as pH meters, centrifuges, micro pipettes, weighing balances, and UV-Vis
* Perform UV-Vis assay measurements
