About MD Helicopters Inc

MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI) is a helicopter manufacturing company based in Mesa, Arizona. MDHI has been manufacturing the light helicopter of choice for military, government and general aviation customers for seven years. MDHI is offering its MD Explorer® helicopter for the Army's Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) program. Proposals to build the LUH were submitted October 20, with a fly-off in December and a final program decision expected in April. MD HELICOPTERS SERVES MILITARY, LAW ENFORCEMENT & FIRST RESPONDERS. MDHI's current customers include the US and international militaries, Drug Enforcement Agency, and law enforcement and medical facilities throughout the country. MDHI's customers come back time after time, because MDHI's helicopters offer superior maneuverability, safety, reliability, durability, and survivability. MD HELICOPTERS' TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE EXTENDS FOR DECADES. MD 500®, MD 520N®, MD 600N® and MD Explorer® helicopters share a common lineage with the MH-6 and AH-6 "Little Birds" of the Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, the "Night Stalkers." The Little Birds in turn are based on the OH-6 Light Observation Helicopter (LOH), first produced by Hughes Helicopter Company during the Vietnam War. Hughes Helicopter was later purchased by McDonnell Douglas, which in turn merged with The Boeing Company in 1997. In 1999, MDHI, an independent Arizona corporation, purchased the helicopter assets from The Boeing Company. MD HELICOPTERS IS A FINANCIALLY STRONG COMPANY THAT WILL DELIVER ON THE ARMY'S LIGHT UTILITY HELICOPTER CONTRACT. As the Army prepares to acquire 352 new Light Utility Helicopters (LUH), it can look with confidence to the MDHI team to complete the project on time, on budget, and with a superior helicopter that meets the Army's requirements. In July 2005, Patriarch Partners, LLC, a New York-based financial firm with approximately $4.5 billion under management, acquired a controlling interest in MDHI. The transaction ensures MDHI has a solid financial footing with more than enough working capital to manufacture and support the full complement of 352 LUH aircraft. MD HELICOPTERS IS ALREADY GEARING UP PRODUCTION FOR THE LUH PROGRAM. The MDHI production line currently produces helicopters of all three series for commercial and other government customers. The company is significantly expanding its manufacturing capacity to meet projected growth in the general aviation sector. This expansion will give MDHI the ready capability to scale up production in the MD Explorer® line to meet the Army's LUH requirements - an average of 32 helicopters per year - while maintaining its delivery schedule for its commercial customer base. MDHI's subcontractors and suppliers throughout the country are ready to go, and are themselves capable of executing orders of this size. MDHI is committed to assuring that the Army gets the helicopters and the support that it needs, on time and on budget, throughout the life of the contract.
