Engineers coordinate requirements with product and remote development team members, guide integrations using an API, formulate software designs, then implement, test, and help push into production. The ability to identify creative and scalable solutions within the constructs of a system with millions of users is required. This engineer will use the following technologies to develop software: PHP, JavaScript/jQuery/AJAX (possibly Bootstrap, Ember, Angular, etc. frameworks as well), and MySQL. Experience with Github is a plus. This position will focus on course integrations with content teams within McGraw-Hill Education (utilizing the Engrade API), ensuring that user experience is seamless and feature sets are cohesive within the Engrade platform.

Responsible for the design, development, and testing of web-based applications for integration with course integration teams and other Engrade platform features
Support integration initiatives (including discussions, coordinated reviews, documentation, etc)
Responsible for supporting QA in defect resolution
Following processes including: SDLC, QA, optimization, and others
Completion of customer / contract / partner-specific development
Rapid customer issue resolution

Ability to work in a local, and distributed, team environment. Requires effective communication within development, product, and business groups. Ability to coordinate distributed efforts, track responsibilities, and drive progress.

Required Skills

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Must be excited about building scalable API-based web applications
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and driven to get things accomplished
2+ years of programming languages
PHP, MySQL, HTML, JQuery / Javascript, and CSS experience
Experience with RESTful APIs a plus
Experience with MySQL advanced functions, procedures and triggers a plus
Knowledge of relational database design concepts
Ability to work in a fast-paced quick software release environment
Ability to work in a team or individually


Experience on a software development team
Experienced in LAMP development and linux server administration
Experienced in mobile app development
Experience working with APIs / AJAX / XML / JSON / Bootstrap / Angular / Ember
Strong understanding of UI and UX
Experience with Github
