Specialty: Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine

Position Summary: The division provides inpatient and outpatient pediatric pulmonary specialty care to children with highly complex medical and surgical problems, including children with asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bronchiectasis, diffuse lung disease, congenital lung disorders, cystic fibrosis (CF), obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, pulmonary hypertension, and technology dependent children. Multi-specialty team approach to complex disease is the norm in throughout the institution.

Responsibilities: Primary clinical responsibilities are split between outpatient pulmonary clinic and inpatient pulmonary service in the Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital at Mayo Clinic. The Children's Hospital is a rapidly growing pediatric center providing care in all aspects of pediatric medicine. Care for pediatric medical and surgical patients is provided in the multidisciplinary PICU and post-surgical cardiac ICU with a combined 1,500 admissions per year. Our pediatric pulmonologists help care for complex medical and subspecialty surgical patients, including transplant, aerodigestive and airway reconstruction patients, complex spine, and level 1 trauma patients. The flexible bronchoscopy program performs 500 procedures per year, >10% of which are therapeutic or interventional. The sleep medicine service performs almost 800 pediatric sleep studies per year. Research infrastructure is robust for basic science, clinical, and translational research.

A portion of this position can be tailored to your interests, including but not limited to: clinical practice in pediatric sleep or advanced bronchoscopy, research, education (including simulation education), quality improvement, and administrative responsibilities.

The division seeks an additional member with complementary clinical and research expertise in areas such as advanced bronchoscopy, sleep medicine, pulmonary hypertension, and/or rare lung diseases.

Licensure or Certification: Candidates must be board-certified/board-eligible in pediatric pulmonology, have excellent clinical and teaching skills, and experience in basic, clinical or translational research or quality improvement.
