Department: Special Purpose Processor Development Group

A Life-Changing Career

Position Summary: The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) is in need of an Industrial Security Specialist to oversee all aspects of the group's industrial security needs.


Participates in and maintains a working knowledge of the SPPDG operations and tactical/strategic planning. In direct support of the SPPDG mission, proposes, develops, implements and supports all industrial security procedures in accordance with Mayo Clinic policies, the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and other applicable government agency special regulations. Processes security clearance information, oversees security practices and resolves security problems for the SPPDG. Provides SPPDG contact point for cognizant government security agencies. Responsible for writing and editing of Information System Security Protection Profiles under the Mayo Foundation Information Systems Security Master Plan. Provides Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) functions for classified projects and works cooperatively with Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs). Provides COMSEC Custodian and Contractor Special Security Officer (C/SSO) functions. Prepares and presents training, briefing, and debriefing information. Responsible for the physical security system(s) in the role of point-of-contact for all aspects of the security system including day-to-day issues and maintenance and repair. Develops and proposes alarm responding procedures. Manages these processes and provides representative reports and recommendations to SPPDG leadership.

The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG). The SPPDG is an electronics technology research group dedicated to developing next generation electronics technology for high-speed signal processor applications. Our primary mission is the development of advanced technology for high clock rate digital signal processors and wide bandwidth, high center frequency analog systems. The SPPDG is equipped with a full suite of CAD and simulation tools, a high performance test facility, and a class 100 microelectronic assembly clean room.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience. Government security training desired (5 years minimum). Requires successful completion of FSO Program Management Course, ISS Procedures for Industry, COMSEC and CSSO training, as well as other government security training as necessary. Related industrial security experience desirable, but not required. General and security specific computer experience is required. Must be a self-starter, highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Additional Qualifications: Requires U.S. citizenship.
Will be submitted for, and must be approved for and maintain a U.S. government security clearance above the Top Secret level that is commensurate with the security requirements of the SPPDG operational needs.

License or Certification: Requires U.S. citizenship. Will be submitted for, and must be approved for and maintain U.S. government security clearances that are commensurate with the security requirements of the SPPDG operational needs. This will include, but not be limited to Top Secret.

Exemption Status: Exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2860.00, based on a full-time position.
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: Monday-Friday; Work schedule of 9 hours per day, 9 weekdays per two week pay period.
