Position Summary: Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician I to join the Division of Engineering (DOE) - Biomechanical Shop team. This is an entry level CNC Machinist position for graduates of a two-year Computer Integrated Machining or Machine Tool Technology program.

Your primary responsibilities will include CNC Programming and Machining. You will design and fabricate mechanical components and systems, working under the supervision of more senior staff. You will be responsible for operation and assisting with maintenance of our HAAS multi-axis milling and turning centers and other machining centers. Your work will be done in conformance with the Division of Engineering quality management system. You will work with mechanical designers to document designs according to Division of Engineering Drafting Standards.

In the Division of Engineering, you will be part of a team that creates valuable, unique solutions to enhance the health and well-being of patients by supporting integrated clinical practice, education and research. We provide technical innovation through engineering collaborations with Mayo staff based on exceptional knowledge of the intersection of medicine and technology, access to medical staff, aptitude in project management and business analysis, relationships with industry and academic partners and ability to identify high value activities.

Responsibilities: This position requires competent skills and knowledge of 3-Dimensional Solid Modeling, part design and drafting, ANSI standards, and CAD ( Solidworks ) / CAM ( MasterCam ) proficiency. Must be familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
The Mechanical Engineering Technician would fabricate and assemble mechanical components via engagement of complex as well as basic machine hand and manual tools; read and properly interpret mechanical drawings in order to fabricate parts; participate in the design process under the close supervision of more experienced staff; understand and comply with all Division of Engineering standards, processes, and procedures, especially Mechanical Drafting Standards; uses computers for design, documentation, communication, and work/time tracking. Individual would engage programming and fabrication tasks as directed by the Biomechanical Shop Supervisor and/or other more senior personal.

Qualifications: Requires two-year degree in Mechanical Technology or Machine Tool and Die or equivalent experience. Must have the ability to read mechanical drawings and designs, use mechanical hand and manual tools, and be competent in the use of a personal computer.

Additional Qualifications: Basic PC skills are required (Word, Excel, etc.).
CAD skills are required ( Solidworks )
CAM skills are required ( MasterCam )
Set-up / Programming / Operations Proficiency is required ( HAAS Machining Centers )
Machine Shop operations and experience highly desired

Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $22.35 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: This is a limited tenure position, with an anticipated end date of 9/30/2019 (end date subject to change).
