Department: Neurology

A Life-Changing Career

Responsibilities: We are seeking an energetic and experienced speech language pathologist to join our dynamic team. Primary responsibilities of this position include: Evaluation and treatment for inpatient and outpatient adults (some work with pediatric inpatients as well) with neurogenic communication impairments; participation as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a hospital-based rehabilitation unit and in other areas of the Mayo Clinic Rochester campus. Experience with evaluation and treatment of dysphagia, head and neck cancers, for the inpatient (primary adult) population with potential opportunities for outpatient clinics; establishing augmentative/alternative communication systems for patients; participation in staff/division meetings; and involvement in designated committees/special interest groups/tasks forces.

Qualifications: MS or MA degree in Speech-Language Pathology as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence. This is not a Clinical Fellowship position.

Additional Qualifications: Specific to Department of Neurology: Experience evaluating and treating adults with neurogenic communication impairments Experience with brain injured patients Experience or interest in augmentative/alternative communication systems Experience evaluating and treating children with communication impairments Experience evaluating and treating patients with dysphagia Specific to Department of Otorhinolaryngology: Skilled in rigid and flexible video strobolaryngoscopy. Experience evaluating and treating adults with voice and voice related disorders

Experience or a willingness to learn and participate in opportunities working with outpatient pediatric patients and pediatric specialty clinics a plus.

Allied Health Staff in the Division of Speech Pathology are encouraged to achieve Board Certification by the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences (BC-ANCDS) and/or awarded Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders by the American Board of Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (BCS-S).

License or Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or participating in an ASHA Clinical Fellowship Year supervised by a Mayo Clinic speech-language pathologist certified by ASHA

Licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Health in Speech-Language Pathology

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,396.00, based on a full-time position.
