Responsibilities: **MASTERS STUDENTS ONLY** As an Exercise Specialist intern, you will experience: -Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, as well as the Exercise Is Medicine Program (medically-supervised exercise program) -Risk factor assessment & reduction -Patient care case management -Patient education, such as: cardiovascular exercise, strength training, anatomy of the heart, stress management, nutrition, etc -Functional testing -Exercise prescription / leadership (Cardiovascular, strength, balance & flexibility) -Motivational interviewing / wellness coaching -Observations: oNutrition/ Diabetes Counseling oPulmonary Function Testing oCardiopulmonary Exercise Testing oStress Testing oCardiac Catheterization Lab Your Responsibilities will include: -Providing exercise prescriptions & consultations -Administering fitness assessments -Providing behavior & physical activity counseling -Obtaining patient vital signs & inputting data -Interpreting electrocardiograms & recognizing rhythms -Providing patient education, including teaching classes -Reviewing patient cases -Completing a project of your choosing -Delivering high-quality customer service

At Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato, the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program offers an unpaid Exercise Specialist Internship for graduate students in exercise science, or related fields. The Exercise Specialist Internship provides students with comprehensive, hands on experience in delivering clinical services to patients with cardiovascular & lung diseases/ conditions. The internship position is 12-15 weeks, but may be adjusted to meet school requirements. Bachelors degree required.
