Job Description

Department: Colon Rectal Surgery

A Life-Changing Career


Responsibilities: Colon and Rectal Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work as part of a multidisciplinary team managing hospitalized patients who have undergone a variety of colon and rectal surgical procedures. This is a dynamic surgical practice renowned for excellence, innovation and performing cutting-edge procedures. NP/PAs are valued members within colon/rectal surgery and teamwork is essential to meeting the needs of the patients for whom we provide care.

The Colon Rectal Surgery team has 9 surgeons and 4 NP/PAs currently in the hospital practice. The NP or PA will provide comprehensive assessments of patients including: ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosing, prescribing of pharmacologic agents, treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies. We are proud of our novel approaches to colon and rectal diseases, and due to our team based approach that includes partnership with surgeons, nurses, residents and fellows, we are very willing to train new graduates. A high level of autonomy is expected.

Hours are a combination of week days and week nights. Night coverage will be 3 nights every 4-5 weeks. At this time there are no holiday or weekend responsibilities.

Qualifications: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an FNP, ANP, or ACNP.

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration.

Additional Qualifications: Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team. Please submit resume and 2 letters of reference.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,819.20, based on a full-time position.
Hours/Pay Period: Full Time
Schedule Details: Hours are a combination of week days (four 10-hour shifts) and week nights. Night coverage will be 3 nights (14 hour shifts) every 4-5 weeks. At this time there are no holiday or weekend responsibilities.
