Department: Radiology

A Life-Changing Career

Position Summary: 0.6 FTE working guaranteed 48 hours per pay period. Opportunity to work up to 80 hours per pay period at times. Working a rotation of day/ evening/ overnight/ weekend/ holiday shifts at the Mankato hospital.

Responsibilities: Performs diagnostic examinations to provide source of information for interpretation by interpreting physician for referring physician. Identifies correct patient for requested examination using two forms of identification, patient name and date of birth. Explains examination to patient and family if present. Complete consent forms and worksheets according to department policy. Positions patients properly for requested examination utilizing good radiation safety procedures according to department policy. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis to protect patients from excessive radiation and produce radiographs of optimum quality. Uses correct image identification system to ensure proper identification of processed image being ready for interpretation according to department policy. Transports and assists patients to rooms to facilitate to examination as needed. For standards, see radiology aide responsibility Al. Prepares examination room, insure cleanliness and adequate supplies to assure proper and accurate performance of examination. Ensures room cleanliness before patients arrival. Replaces any used supplies. Notify supervisor of any needed supplies to ensure continued room readiness. Performs visual preventive safety inspection. Complete tube warm up procedure for each room. Report dangerous equipment situation or malfunction of equipment to supervisor according to department policy. Performs various department support functions to ensure efficient and optimum patient care. Inspects patient's diagnostic procedure request to assure proper assignment and procedure has been ordered according to department policy. Correlates procedure charge with actual procedure performed. Obtains patient examination history records unusual conditions, limitations, and documents technique factors as necessary following department policy.

Qualifications: Experience : Previous experience preferred. Education: Graduate in Radiologic Technology preferred.

Additional Qualifications: Training: Must have certificate of licensure from state of Minnesota and be eligible to sit for registry or certified by the ARRT.

License or Certification: Licensure & Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. All technologists employed by MCHS-SW MN Region Imaging Departments shall be registered/certified (or registry eligible) by the national and state qualifying boards as applica

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $23.65 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: 48
Schedule Details: 0.6 FTE working guaranteed 48 hours per pay period. Opportunity to work up to 80 hours per pay period at times. Working a rotation of day/ evening/ overnight/ weekend/ holiday shifts at the Mankato hospital.
Weekend Schedule: Weekend rotation. Usually 1 weekend a month at most.
