A Life-Changing Career

Position Summary: Must be an ordained Roman Catholic Priest.
Must be able to obtain Faculties in the Diocese of Winona, MN.

Responsibilities: Ministers to the spiritual needs of patients, families and Mayo Clinic employees. Participates in a team ministry with other members of the department to provide unit on-call coverage. Assists in sacramental/ritual ministry as appropriate; provides referral to ordained chaplains for sacramental ministry as needed. Works cooperatively with other members of the Department of Chaplain Services in planning and providing a total program of pastoral care. Serves on committees within department, and other hospital committees as needed. Supports and participates in the educational programs of the department. Assists in orienting new personnel to the Department of Chaplain Services. Prepares and maintains records for assigned areas. Documents patient care activities in the medical record. Records patient care activity in the department Chaplain Activity Record -Electronic(CARE)program.

Qualifications: Advanced theological degree from an accredited seminary (or equivalent in endorsing body) and a minimum of four units of accredited Clinical Pastoral Education.

License or Certification: Endorsement for service as a Chaplain by appropriate church body. Certification or certification-eligible with one or more of the following: Association of Professional Chaplains(APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains/United States Catholic Conference of Bishops(NACC/USCCB), the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education(ACPE), or the Association of Jewish Chaplains(AJC).

Exemption Status: Exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $1855.20, based on a full-time position.
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: The priest schedule will primarily M-F, 8-5pm. However, they will work every about every 3rd weekend. They will on call over night about 7 days a month, where they respond to the pager from home.
