Position Summary: The Department of Neuroscience at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL,in partnership with the Mayo Clinic Robert and Arlene Kogod Center on Aging is seeking outstanding candidates with dynamic research programs in Neurobiology of disease and aging.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate for this position will be an investigator with an innovative and dynamic research program that is directed at understanding the fundamental role of disease biology in aging, with an emphasis on the identification of molecules and pathways that drive cellular senescence and aging. This may then ultimately lead to new ways to modulate these senescent cells, thus delaying or reverting diseases and disabilities associated with aging in people.

The candidate for this position will be expected to have a track record of major contributions to the field, with an emphasis on the application of novel in vitro and in vivo imaging tool and animal models, induced pluripotent stem cells, the use of systems level analytical and bioinformatics approaches, or the integration of multiple discovery platforms to advance our understanding of disease biology and etiology. The candidate for this position is expected to have a history of extramural funding, as well as a proven record of collaborative team science endeavors. Individuals with interest and experience in research training and graduate-level education are particularly encouraged to respond.

The Mayo Clinic Department of Neuroscience is a prominent department and is internationally recognized and respected for academic excellence. Basic scientists within the neuroscience department have strong expertise in neurogenetics, neuropathology, disease modeling, immunity, and experimental therapeutics. The Department hosts an NIH-designated Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and the Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson's Disease Research. The research mission of the department is closely aligned with the resources and initiatives of the Center for Biomedical Discovery, Center for Regenerative Medicine, Center for Individualized Medicine, Department of Neurology, and the Center on Aging. The department also has an outstanding training environment and is closely aligned with the Neurobiology of Disease Program at Mayo Graduate School, the Mayo Medical School and the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education.

Mayo Clinic has a large number of world class faculty laboratory and state-of-the-art shared resource facilities, including those for microscopy and imaging, cell and molecular biology, animal models, production of iPS cells and clinical grade MSCs, biomedical engineering and mathematics, materials testing, a Medical Genomics Facility, a Mouse Modeling Facility, Molecular and Microscopic Core Facilities, and unique Human Disease Tissue Banks.
