Job Description

Quality Engineer

For Maxion Wheels Akron LLC, in Akron, Ohio.

Duties:

  • Implement & maintain quality control process system for manufacturer of passenger car & commercial truck wheels, includes identifying & implementing manufacturing improvements & addressing resolution of errors or defects.
  • Create & maintain company quality document policies & procedures, & conduct training on quality concepts & tools.
  • Lead internal audit processes & prepare for 2nd & 3rd party audits.
  • Create & maintain manufacturing process & product audits, includes analyzing results & establishing corr actions.
  • Serve as key point of contact customer quality issues, includes  documenting manufacturing rates, fulfilling customer-specific requirements, & administering customer portals, acceptance criteria, rework, & repair standards.
  • Communicate w/suppliers to resolve quality-related issues & perform supplier audits.
  • Participate in development of both new & existing prod’n programs through advanced product quality planning processes, & in development & implementation of new Automotive Industry Action Group associated quality software system.
  • Provide cost analysis for projects.

25% travel, both domestic & international.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering, or foreign equivalent.
  • 2 years experience in an auto wheel process engineering or quality assurance engineering positions.
  • 2 years experience with each of: 
    • Manufacturing & quality assurance processes for steel wheels for passenger cars &  commercial trucks, inc’l stamping, forming, welding, painting, & machining processes.
    • Calculating costs &  economics of cost projects for wheel manufacturing programs.
    • Auto wheel gauges & measuring devices, includes interpreting measurement results, according to individual wheel critical characteristics, includes welding structure analysis & rotary & radial tests.
    • Providing training for plant-level Automotive Industry Action Group core tools Failure modes and effects analysis, Production Part Approval Process, Measurement Systems Analysis,Advanced Product Quality Planning & control plans, includes implementing associated quality software systems.
  • 1 year experience with maintaining Ford Q1 quality system.
  • Experience can be acquired concurrently.
