Do you have a strong aptitude for writing, interest in learning new technologies, and a flair for explaining complex concepts and procedures to technical audiences?

Come join a team at MathWorks that develops online documentation for physical modeling products with a focus on 3D mechanical systems for robotic, aerospace, and automotive applications. Engineers use products like ours to fix design errors early in the development cycle by simulating system behavior before deployment.

At MathWorks, technical writers are integral members of a cross-functional team that includes software engineers, quality engineers, technical marketing specialists, and UX professionals, all with a common goal: to develop high-quality software for customers ranging from students to advanced engineers.

Responsibilities

We are looking for self-starters with the background, skills, and enthusiasm for communicating creative ways to use MathWorks physical modeling products.

* Write goal-oriented content that explains design analysis concepts and techniques for developing models of physical systems. Create Examples and tutorials.


* Work with the user community and customer-facing groups to understand their real-world engineering challenges.


* Participate with a multidisciplinary team in product planning, design review, and testing.


* Help MathWorks develop next-generation online help resources.



Minimum Qualifications

* A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree) is required.

Additional Qualifications

Required

* Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.


* Ability to learn and explain practical engineering concepts and procedures for diverse audiences.


* Ability to develop and document creative examples of functionality to address customer goals.


* Experience writing for technical audiences, such as scientists and engineers.


* Enthusiastic about working in cross-functional teams.



Plusses:

* Mechanical engineering degree or work experience
* Experience using MATLAB, Simulink, or the Simscape family of physical modeling products.
* Experience in developing graphics and with related tools such as Adobe Illustrator.
* Experience with XML and topic-based authoring.
