Job Description

Position summary
The Assistant Payroll Manager will be responsible for assisting with all of the day-to-day payroll functions to ensure all deadlines are met in an accurate and efficient manner for the weekly driver payroll processing and bi-weekly non-driver payroll processing. The Assistant Payroll Manager will provide leadership to the payroll team and will also ensure continuous improvement in the following areas: payroll processing, training and development, and federal & state compliance. Work with Payroll Manager and other managers to align department goals and company efficiencies.

Role and Responsibilities
* Responsible for the day-to-day efficient operation of the payroll department
* Directly supervise Office Payroll Supervisor and Payroll/Settlement Supervisor
* Time Report analysis
* Assist in verifying and processing payroll
* Employee file maintenance
* Analyze and review changes to pay to ensure accuracy
* Ensure accurate audit checks are in place for the department
* Participate in meetings and decision making regarding new developments pertaining to the payroll department
* Assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting
* Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
* Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a leadership role in a payroll department
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Superior interpersonal, verbal/written skills and presentation skills essential
* Familiarity with state and federal payroll regulations required
Preferred Skills
* Prior experience in a multi-state, multi-company, organization
* General understanding of GP Dynamics
* Manage multiple conflicting priorities.
* Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels.
* Be self-directed and motivated.
* Take initiative to identify and anticipate organizational needs and make recommendations for implementation.
