The Culinary Recruiting Manager, University Relations works with the Sr. Manager, University Relations and properties to understand the

Culinary Voyage and Intern staffing needs. This remote position establishes and maintains relationships with the career centers, deans and students at key culinary colleges, universities and relevant organizations to identify, assess and deliver the best qualified candidates to fill entry level culinary and baking and pastry Voyage and Intern positions. The Culinary Recruiting Manager also works with his/her Sr. Manager to insure the right recruiting activities are activated each semester at key culinary colleges and aids in the development of field cadre to assist with the recruiting efforts. This role will also collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to insure connectivity between High School efforts and the collegiate Intern program. During high volume recruiting season, this recruiting manager will be asked to participate in non-culinary recruitment initiatives including all parts of the recruitment cycle.


Business/Functional Results

* Partners with Sr. Manager to assess Culinary recruiting needs of the business and develop the appropriate recruiting strategy and programs to deliver top Culinary and Baking & Pastry talent
* Focuses on building skills of field cadre to enable recruiting excellence and increase Marriott brand loyalty
* Develops sources of diverse candidates to help achieve the business' Diversity & Inclusion goals
* Plans recruiting events at key Culinary colleges, universities and community colleges in partnership with the assistance of Sr. Manager

Managing Execution

* Schedules and conducts Culinary recruiting events at key colleges, universities and community colleges in partnership with field cadre and Sr. Managers, as needed
* Build effective relationships with culinary schools, Culinary cadre, faculty and students to create sources of talent. They will build credibility with culinary schools by demonstrating commitment, knowledge and concern toward the industry, curriculum and students.
* Deploy innovative and effective tactics in candidate sourcing including community partnerships, referrals, networks, social channels, events, competitor analysis and more
* Identifies, sources and evaluates prospective Culinary and Baking & Pastry candidates through the "On Campus Recruiting" process; interviews prospective candidates and produces a rank order of recommended candidates
* Partner with our business leaders on property and at headquarters to develop and iterate on hiring plans that accelerate us toward Culinary growth and business goals
* Build culinary alumni database to reference for cadre recommendations
* Develop culinary practical guidelines and test environments for Voyage to be streamlined across North America
* Partners with Marriott on-campus champion to drive attendance at recruiting events and drive interest in Marriott brands
* Provides training, as necessary, in interviewing and assessment techniques
* Provides recruiting activity reports to Sr. Manager, as requested
* Tracks key recruiting indicators to determine the effectiveness of current recruiting programs and makes adjustments as necessary
* Provides feedback to Sr. Manager on the effectiveness of recruiting collateral and makes recommendations for any necessary changes and/or enhancements
* Remains abreast of industry and company trends and is able to discuss these trends with students


* Displays leadership in Culinary discipline, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for students
* Provides career counseling when appropriate
* Staying updated on Culinary trends in the restaurant and hospitality industries
* Interacts with candidates to obtain feedback on recruitment levels; effectively responds to and handles problems and complaints and engages the Sr. Manager as necessary
* Establishes guidelines so cadre members understand expectations and parameters
* Ensures cadre members receive on-going training and understand the University Relations team's expectations for intern and Voyage culinary programs
* Observes interview behaviors of cadre members and provides feedback to individuals; continuously strives to improve assessment performance

Financial Management

* Is familiar with Human Resources and company financial goals; manages budget in alignment with these goals
* Partners with Sr. Manager to monitor recruiting activities of cadre members to insure adequate number of candidates while minimizing travel costs
* Determines cost effectiveness of all recruiting programs and event ROI in partnership with Sr. Manager


* Performs other duties as appropriate
* Travel is required - approximately 75%


Experience and Skills

* Two years of management experience required
* Five years of Culinary, hospitality or service-oriented industry experience preferred
* Two years demonstrated success in full cycle recruiting and sourcing top talent preferred
* Ability to acquire and maintain relationships with associates, customers, vendors, etc.
* Ability to influence and coach as needed
* Demonstrated experience in effective decision-making and problem-solving
* Ability to work from home and independently in driving results for the business and in recruitment efforts
* Strong relationship building skills required
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
* Strong presentation skills required
* Proven success in managing multiple priorities required
* Ability to navigate many technical platforms, websites and social media venues

Education or Certification

* 4-year bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Human Resources, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major
* Certified trainer; TCII certified preferred
* Voyager graduate preferred but not necessary
