Job Description

Section 1: Scope

Manhattan College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate courses in religious studies on a rolling, per course basis. Possible courses include our first-year course, Religions in the Workplace, Religion and Social Justice. For consideration, candidates must have completed a Master's degree in Religious Studies or Theology. Preference will be given to those currently at an advanced level of the Ph.D. or who have completed the Ph.D. and those with an ESL background. Depending upon qualifications, faculty can be hired at the level of adjunct instructor, adjunct assistant professor, adjunct associate professor, or adjunct professor. Excellence in and commitment to teaching is the key factor for consideration. Faculty in the Department of Religious Studies come from a wide array of theological and religious backgrounds, but all must be cognizant and appreciative of Manhattan College's Catholic and Lasallian traditions, especially as these call us to advance social justice and protect individual dignity.

Manhattan College is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not unlawfully discriminate in its employment decisions based on race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, national origin, sex/gender identify/expression, sexual orientation, marital/partnership status, disability, age, citizenship status, veteran status, predisposing genetic characteristics, caregiver status, credit history, arrest/conviction record, unemployment status, status as a victim of domestic violence, sexual violence, or stalking, or any other legally protected status.

Manhattan College is an independent Catholic coeducational institution in the Lasallian tradition. We expect our faculty, administration, and staff to be knowledgeable about our mission and to make a positive contribution to the mission. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. We are committed to a diverse campus community. AA/EO Employer M/F/D/V
