Job Description


Sealaska Technical Services is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer II or III) to join our growing team located in Richland, WA. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to participate in electrical design, electrical field engineering, systems testing and troubleshooting, and proposal support for projects involving multiple engineering disciplines. Candidates should be familiar with electrical power systems, instrumentation & controls, and communications hardware and software.

The primary thrust of this role will be the design and installation of commercial electrical power and control systems. In addition to the generation of all appropriate calculations, the duties of this position will include the generation of wiring diagrams, conduit layout and as-built drawings. Qualified candidates should be self-motivated, able to work in a team environment and be willing to travel both domestically and overseas.

This is a full-time/salaried-benefited opportunity based in Richland, WA. This position requires the selected applicant to travel frequently to foreign locations where projects are conducted. Overseas work does include project uplift rates.

* Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications through applying knowledge of electrical engineering concepts and materials.
* Provides electrical conceptual and detailed designs, methods and materials specifications, electrical equipment administration, cost estimating, feasibility studies, and support of procurement and construction activities.
* Makes sourcing recommendations for electrical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
* Assures system performance by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities.
* Oversee the installation of communication systems which involve fiber optic cabling, wireless networks, cameras, radiation detection systems and other peripheral systems/subsystems.
* Prepares system performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
* Assesses whether local infrastructure meets power quality standards to properly operate integrated sensors and monitoring equipment.
* Defines system requirements and develops optimized subsystem configurations.
* Makes informed technical recommendations to keep integrated systems operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; works directly with equipment manufacturers to diagnose and remedy electrical system performance problems.
* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
* Use of Solid Works, AutoCAD or equivalent
* Other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Must be able to clearly communicate design details, specifications, and operating requirements to other team members in support of business decision-making.
* Ability to lead and/or direct the work of entry-level staff.
* Working knowledge of CAD tools.
* Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local building codes and safety laws. Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand "abstract" principles behind math and physics.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate and work proactively with project stakeholders requiring strong skills of diplomacy.
* Proven track record of successfully working in foreign countries where there are different cultures and nonstandard business practices.
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
* Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 50-75%.
* Performs a variety of tasks in working under limited supervision; a certain degree of creativity and latitude required.

Training and Education:

* Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering; Background in Computer Science is also desirable.
* 8-10+ years of Electrical Engineering experience
* Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification; a Professional Engineer (PE) or planning to take the PE Exam in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
* OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
* First Aid/CPR/BBP Certified
