Job Description

Our client is a regional Midwest law firm that is seeking to hire an experienced, Environmental Attorney on a contract basis.

The ideal candidate could work from the firms Cleveland or Columbus office and will be open to a flexible work schedule that might average 10-20 hours per week.

The attorneys at our client represent businesses that face an unique combination of government regulation, capital intensive R&D, venture capital and other funding mechanisms, and industry standard setting in the energy and environmental sectors of their businesses. In some countries this can result in either compulsory licensing of these technologies or government appropriation of the technologies, which are seen as critical to national development and security. Some countries also seek to promote innovation in these technologies by offering accelerated patent examination programs for so-called green technologies.

The qualified candidate for this position will likely have worked in-house at some point, and understands both the traditional and alternative energy and environmental technologies that companies utilize to attain their business objectives, domestically and internationally. Prior real world experience in chemical and petroleum engineering, materials science, mechanical and civil engineering, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, biology or botany would be helpful.

Our clients business clients use the following Technologies:

Petroleum, ethanol and other biofuels, hydrolysis, clean coal, catalysis, wind, solar, hydroelectric, recycling and industrial resource recovery, natural gas and fracking, fuel cells, batteries and other storage technologies, power generation and water purification.

While our client has an existing IP team to handle the energy and environmental IP patent needs of their clients, they would like to hire a contractor to help counsel clients on matters involving Environmental Regulatory Compliance, FRAND standards and standard setting bodies, and/or joint venture and investment due diligence.
