Maintenance Internship: Candidate will receive college credit

Position: Temporary, paid internship, $18.00 perhour

Description:

The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority d/b/a LYNX, is seeking an intern to work under the direction of the Director of Maintenance. The primary focus of the internship will be on detailed analysis of mechanical failures (unscheduled repairs and in-service failures) within the revenue fleet to include trends based on subsystems and major components. The intern will assist the Maintenance department by collecting, maintaining, and analyzing vehicle maintenance data from numerous sources and present results to the Director of Maintenance and Chief Operating Officer. The intern will act as a resource to other departments for the development of methodologies and statistically valid reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficiency using a computer and related technology, including high proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook), the internet, complex spreadsheets, and the structure of databases and query principles.
Knowledge of mathematical and statistical methods; the theories, principles, and practices of research, data processing, and statistical analysis; and project management techniques.
Working knowledge of report writing, query, and analysis activities using tools such as Crystal Report Writer, Trapeze applications (desired), ArcGIS10+ (desired), and SQL utilities.
Strong analytic ability, including the ability to communicate Key Performance Indicators and trends clearly and succinctly in written and graphical formats.
Ability to collect, maintain, manage, analyze, interpret, and disseminate data and information from wide variety of ongoing data-streams from internal and external sources.

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled in an Associate or Bachelor degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Maintenance
Strong technical and organizational skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills
A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Visa sponsorship

Work Schedule:

This is a 12 week (3 month assignment)

Business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Intern's weekly work schedule requires a minimum of 15 hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week (schedule can be designed to fit the intern's educational workload and schedule and that of the Maintenance Department's need).
