No Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Manager and CAD/FM Administrator will report to the Assistant Vice President for Campus Planning and will be responsible for the management of construction and renovation projects on three Chicagoland campuses. The position will also be responsible for maintaining the space catalogue for an integrated workplace management system.

* Responsible for the overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards
* Oversees renovation and construction projects from start to finish
* Performs a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resource requirements
* Creates teams of contractors, designers and internal stakeholders; develops the objectives/goals of each; and assigns individual responsibilities
* Performs accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking team expenses, and minimizing exposure and risk associated with the project
* Ensures that project activities move according to the pre-determined schedule
* Devises the project work plans and makes revisions as needed
* Communicates effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project
* Coordinates the efforts of all parties involved in the project, including architects, consultants, and contractors
* Monitors the progress of the project activities on a regular basis and holds regular status meetings with all sub-teams
* Performs periodic inspections of construction sites in order to maintain the safety of all students, staff and faculty
* Ensures project documents are complete
* Coordinates work on-campus with campus activities, campus infrastructure, and key stakeholders, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
* Reviews project details with Facilities Management leadership to ensure compliance with design standards
* Updates the space catalogue records to accurately reflect changes resulting from projects
* Performs related duties as required

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture, or a related field required and at least two-five years of experience in construction or renovation projects

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture or a related field required
* At least two-five years of experience in construction or renovation projects, preferably within a university setting
* Excellent communication skills
* Good understanding of MEP building systems
* Thorough knowledge of legal issues is essential
* Ability to plan and organize a team effort
* Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of teams
* Effective time management and logical decision-making ability
* Capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously
* Strong focus on quality
* Willingness to travel extensively across construction sites located on three difference campuses
* Physical and mental fitness for the job is required

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

LEED-AP preferred

Computer Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD. Experience with project management software preferred.
