Job Description

Tenure Track Faculty Announcement:

The Department of Educational Leadership and Administration (EDLA) at Loyola Marymount University is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Institute for School Leadership & Administration (ISLA) to begin in Fall 2019. The candidate should have an established record of research and publications in PK-12 educational leadership or a related field, as well as a history of successful acquisition of external funding. The candidate will be able to prepare leaders to effectively work in PK-12 education settings that include cultural diversity, students with disabilities, English learners, and gifted and talented. The candidate will also teach courses and support all facets of a learning environment consistent with the University and School values and mission. The candidate will encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, ethics, respect, life-long learning, and personal and professional development.

Key Position Responsibilities

* Teach courses and advise students in EDLA programs with emphasis on those in ISLA, which focus on PK-12 public and charter education and leadership.
* Conduct a scholarly agenda focused on research, funding, presentations, and publications related to PK-12 educational leadership.
* Support the Academic Program Director in program development, revision, and evaluation.
* Support the outreach, recruitment, admission and enrollment of students in the certificate and master's programs to meet target enrollments.
* Demonstrate strong skills for supporting the implemention of research-based, evidenced-based, and data-driven educational program decisions, and the ability to foster collaboration among colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
* Demonstrate computer proficiency in online instruction and ability to teach at the graduate level.
* Serve as support liaison with school leadership program initiatives that advance public and charter PK-12 education locally, regionally, and nationally.
* Represent LMU at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences.

Qualifications

* Earned doctorate in educational leadership or related field (required) and California Administrative Services Credential (preferred).
* Established record of research, presentations, and publications in educational leadership or a related field, and a history of successful acquisition of external funding.
* Successful experience in educational leadership and administration in PK-12 public and/or charter school settings and (preferred).
* Successful graduate level teaching experience face-to-face and in online environments in courses that serve educational leadership students, particularly in public and charter school education.
* Commitment to LMU and School of Education mission.
