Job Summary Benefits Supplemental Questions

Louisiana Delta Community College is seeking a skilled and effective faculty member to plan, develop, and use effective teaching methods and materials to teach students General Microbiology lecture and laboratory at the Winnsboro, LA campus. This adjunct position will be responsible for teaching general microbiology lecture and lab for science majors and allied health majors. The instructor must have experience with microbiology laboratory operations and bio-hazard safety protocols.

Position Available - August 2018 - Adjunct Instructor at the Winnsboro campus.

Examples of Duties:1. Teaching

* Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in the field of microbiology for day and/or evening courses
* May teach up to 12 credit hours / semester and up to six credit hours during the summer
* Manage and dispose of bio-hazard waste and ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols
* Prepare laboratory media and live organism cultures
* Track laboratory inventory for materials and consumables and generate re-stock orders

Minimum Qualifications:The minimum qualifications for the position is a Master's degree in biological sciences from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline. The candidate must possess microbiological laboratory skills, have experience with management and disposal of bio-hazard waste, and demonstrate the ability to use varied instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles. Effective communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff are also required. A successful candidate must be service-oriented, promote excellence, and embrace a commitment to professionalism. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of Louisiana Delta Community College and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from various backgrounds. Two years of successful college-level teaching experience in the discipline is preferred.

Supplemental Information:Salary for academic courses: $600 per credit hour
