Position/Program Information Provides basic nursing care and clerical support for assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Essential Job Functions Various positions perform one of the following two assignments: Position provides basic nursing care of patients such as maintaining a clean patient care environment; assists the physician or other personnel in examination and treatments by escorting, positioning, draping and holding the patient; prepares patients for meals or feeds patients; and makes beds and removes soiled linen. Position performs clerical duties as related to patients such as assembling and maintaining patients' records, reports and records dietary intake; completes identification on all forms, requisitions and specimen; and maintain files and records as directed. Requirements Minimum Requirements: Current enrollment in an accredited* registered nursing program and enrollment within the first year of clinical nursing courses. Physical Class Physical Class III - Moderate: Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. Special Requirement Information Applicants MUST ATTACH the following document to their application at the time of filing: A letter of verification of enrollment in an accredited* registered nursing program from the school or college. Accreditation Information Accreditation: *Accredited institutions are those listed in the publications of regional, national or international accrediting agencies which are accepted by the Department of Human Resources. Publications such as American Universities and Colleges and International Handbook of Universities are acceptable references. Also acceptable, if appropriate, are degrees that have been evaluated and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from United States accredited institutions by an academic credential evaluation agency recognized by The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE). Examination Content This examination will consist of an interview covering training, experience, personal fitness and general ability to perform the duties of the position, weighted 100%. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the Eligible Register. Applicants with disabilities who require special accommodations must provide the Examination Unit with written notification at the time of filing. Candidates are to complete the Supplemental Form to designate their desired testing site. If you do not submit the Supplemental Form, a testing site will be designated for you. Special Information Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Eligibility Information The names of the candidates receiving a passing grade on this examination will be added to the Eligible Register and will appear in the order of their score group for a period of six (6) months following the date of promulgation. No person may compete in this examination more than once every six (6) months.
