Job Description


The Environmental/Sustainability analyst will provide direct analytical support to sustainability and environmental programs across multiple federal government clients. This position will support multiple, diverse projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment. The primary work location is client site in Washington, DC with occasional visits to LMI site in Tysson, Virginia.


* Conducting technical research on a broad range of environmental and sustainability topics including, but not limited to, sustainable building technologies, energy and water efficiency, climate change adaptation and mitigation, environmental remediation technologies, and analytical methods.
* Compiling, analyzing, and managing large, complex data sets related to energy and water utilization, greenhouse gas emissions, building construction and renovation projects, and environmental permitting and compliance.
* Scheduling, managing, and documenting client engagements.
* Managing and updating client data collection tools and systems of record.
* Coordinating and providing subject matter expertise to clients.
* Supporting LMI Mid-level and Senior Environmental Analysts with day-to-day program activities including, but not limited to:
* Developing and updating strategic/long-term plans, environmental plans, and sustainability plans.
* Documenting and maintaining procedures and guidance for tracking client projects and program performance.
* Preparing technical training manuals, Microsoft (MS) Power Point presentations, project briefs, blog posts, and environmental related technical documents.


* Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, chemistry, or other physical science.
* Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in an environmental and/or sustainability field, which may include up to 1 year of internship. 1-3 years' experience acceptable with master's degree in related field.
* Demonstrated personal and professional interest in sustainability and environmental protection.
* Strong skills in MS Office applications. Advanced analytical abilities in MS Excel required, or demonstrated technical acumen to develop skills quickly.
* Creative problem-solving skills and ability to develop sustainability and environmental solutions.
* Strong technical reading, writing, and proofreading skills in performing quality assessment/quality control.
* Demonstrated professionalism in client settings, including interpersonal and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently. Must be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines with minimal supervision, and efficiently manage time across multiple tasks.
* Industry-related professional credentials/certifications (e.g. LEED GA/AP, CEP, EMIT/CEM) preferred, but not required.
* Working knowledge of current federal and state sustainability and environmental policy/regulations preferred, but not required.
* Experience using Google Applications (including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Hangouts)
* Ability to contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, promoting teamwork and fostering positive communication. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships in LMI's multidisciplinary environment.
* Availability for travel as required. Local travel to client sites in Washington, DC is typical.
* Applicants selected for this position may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. For this position, LMI will only consider applicants with current security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances. Please note that only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
