Job Description

Description:Lockheed Martin Procerus Technologies (LMPT) is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead their software engineering team. The successful candidate will report to and work closely with the Chief Engineer to manage a diverse team and guide them through all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), setting standards and ensuring the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied. As a First Line Manager (FLM), the candidate will be responsible for managing software development activities for a number of simultaneous program milestones and objectives across several products including avionics, payloads, and ground station equipment for small unmanned aerial systems (UAS/UAV). The FLM's duties will also include coaching and mentoring their employees, monitoring technical performance, evaluating individual and team performance, controlling budgets and schedules in support of customer objectives, generating cost estimates for work to be performed, providing status to the senior leadership team and other engineering leads, and supporting business initiatives.

The candidate will lead, drive, and energize a team of multiple skills and job disciplines across several programs & business pursuits, exhibiting Full Spectrum Leadership behaviors and showing strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. They will manage a team of approximately 7-10 software engineers, with responsibilities that include project staffing & planning, mentoring, talent management, performance assessment, career development & guidance, work assignments, merit and salary actions, training plans, and college recruiting/intern management. The FLM will also be expected to be able to help with routine development tasks such as software and design reviews, software implementation, and release management on occasion as the need arises.

In addition to the FLM responsibilities, you will have programmatic responsibilities that may include (but are not limited to) Technical Lead, SW leadership, Release Train Engineer, Baseline Architect, Project leadership, Proposals, Cost Account Management, Product Owner, or Scrum Master.

Basic Qualifications:

* Proven experience managing a software product from concept through implementation, release, and sustainment
* Strong knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and experience with both Agile and Waterfall methods
* Experience planning and developing large software development projects and releases
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical systems/programs
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Minimum of 10 years software engineering experience
* At least 7 years of experience developing software in C/C++
* Ability to develop code in C++ and/or Java and willingness to become hands on working directly with members of the team
* The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at both programmatic and technical levels with subordinates, peers, senior management levels and the customer.

Desired Skills:

* Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
* Embedded software and hardware development experience
* Windows development experience
* Familiarity with Qt
* Experience in Java application development
* Mobile application development experience
* Experience with Automated Test tools and Techniques, Modeling Tools, Static Code Analysis tools, Embedded Applications
* Previous work using autonomy and/or artificial intelligent to support a control systems product
