Job Description

Job Description :

The Special Projects Flight Test Engineering organization has an opening for an Associate Special Projects Flight Test Engineer. Special Projects activities consist of unique helicopter flight and ground-based tests such as: avionics temperature and vibration flight surveys, structural load/strain surveys, slung load testing, testing of helicopter weapons platforms, counter measures and dispensing system testing, jettison tests, armament & stores control and dispensing testing, helicopter acoustics tests, shipboard operations and securing, extreme cold weather testing, rotor icing protection system testing, safe separation and FoF clearance testing using advance video editing techniques, large scale airframe load calibrations, land gear load calibrations, impact resonance and modal testing. Each of these unique tests involves the planning, conducting, and reporting of flight test activities. The test planning function involves determining measurement and flight condition requirements necessary to safely provide evaluation, qualification and certification data. These details are then incorporated into a published formal test plan document. Test conduct involves briefing flight and ground crews, and real-time telemetry monitoring of critical parameters. There are occasional requirements for onboard flight testing activities. Large volumes of gathered flight data are then post-processed, analyzed and documented into a final report which is delivered to both internal and external customers.
