The Role


As the AVP, Account Management, you will provide leadership, direction and functional expertise to ensure departmental results for the Retirement Plan Services Account Management team across all markets. You will strategically develop and direct, maintain and execute complex and robust client relationship management programs/plans which ensure that the clients’ overall service needs are satisfied and achieve the business and profitability objectives.

  • Directs a group and the complex relationship management activities including:
  • strategically developing, maintaining, and executing complex and robust client relationship mgmt programs/plans which ensure that internal/external clients’ overall service needs are satisfied & achieve the business, retention and profitability objectives
  • Anticipates and provides relationship management strategies and solutions to complex problems or trends
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and advises management and internal stakeholders on relationship management strategies which optimize client retention and satisfaction and achieve desired business results while reducing risks
  • Directs and oversees the management of assigned area(s) relationships with existing internal/external clients by developing, executing and ensuring strategic, proactive, creative, and ongoing client contact initiatives
  • Builds, enhances and maintains relationships with key contacts at internal/external clients and/or sales teams to ensure clients’ overall service needs are satisfied
  • Reviews and analyzes relationship metrics/dashboards to determine effectiveness of relationship management activities
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives
  • Identifies and directs strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent
  • Directs, establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure departmental results
  • Directs and evaluates departmental performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards



  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to continually improve the capability and results for assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Directs/executes approved strategy decisions and contributes to strategy creation
  • Develops and manages the budget for assigned area(s)
  • Designs organizational structures, which ensure optimal clients’ retention, satisfaction and achieve desired business results while reducing risks
  • Partners with senior management to define optimal departmental organizational design or structure


Business Acumen

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies
  • May participate in industry and/or trade organizations to obtain competitor information, industry trends and/or best practices





  • 4 Year/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors)



  • 10+ Years’ experience in relationship management that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or expertise in retirement plan administration
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate knowledgeably and credibly with senior management and internal constituents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Works with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to think critically, analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution
