Job Description

Job Summary:

Conduct complex analysis of laboratory specimens according to established protocols and procedures, conduct quality assurance checks, and maintain instruments. May lead the work of Medical Laboratory Technicians, Phlebotomists, and others as necessary.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, biology, or related field.

Minimum Work Experience:

* No experience required. Clinical experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

* Valid certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of established laboratory protocols and standards.
* Competency to use a Personal Computer (PC) to include a variety of software applications specific to the lab and the Hospital.
* Mathematical skills and the ability to execute moderately complex computations.
* Good communications skills and the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing using English.
* Good organizational skills and the ability to maintain information in a logical manner.
* Strong observation and analytical skills, and the ability to thoroughly document.
* Leadership skills and the ability to coordinate the work of others.
* Ability to demonstrate proficiency testing.
* Ability to facilitate an environment of collaboration and teamwork
