While the tutor's responsibilities are academic in nature, daily duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Follow all Lab procedures
* Complete a mandatory tutor orientation program prior to beginning tutoring
* Participate in a self-evaluation process, and attend a mandatory mid-term performance meeting
* Complete all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner

- Keep accurate attendance records for all Residential Studying & Tutoring Sessions

* Arrive to your shift on time and prepared to address questions about subject matter
* Maintain contact with the lab supervisor, and be sure to communicate concerns/problems
* Keep all student information confidential as necessary
* Utilize effective tutoring techniques shared through trainings
* Do your best to help your tutee understand course material while fostering independence
* Uphold Liberty's policies regarding academic honesty, and never do the work for your tutee
* Be present, visible, and available to students, faculty, and staff requiring technical and lab assistance
* Help the Engineering Technology team maintain an organized environment
* Research for solutions to questions with which you are unfamiliar
* Be a team player
* Meet weekly with the SE Technology team

Liberty University School of Engineering tutors are a select group of undergraduate students who are chosen for their ability to assist their peers academically and for their strong interpersonal and communication skills. Tutors are recommended by faculty and undergo lab training supported by Engineering Technology.

While hours are extremely flexible, tutors are expected to tutor for a minimum of four (4) hours per week and to commit to a semester-long experience. They will be asked to follow all Engineering Technology procedures and to keep the hourly limitations of the lab hours. Tutors will be expected to attend/complete training, communicate with tutees in a timely manner, complete all necessary paperwork, be professional, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to Liberty's policies regarding academic integrity. It is the role of Engineering tutors to help their peers become successful, confident, and independent learners.

Minimum Qualifications

* Must be a Liberty University student enrolled in Computer or Electrical Engineering or related majors
* Must demonstrate proficiency within Engineering or a related major
* Faculty recommendation is required
* Must have completed ENGE 211 and 212
* Must have and maintain a minimum, cumulative, overall GPA of 3.0 and at least a B+ in core programming courses
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent time management and study skills
* A desire to help peers
* Hours will vary; candidates must have the ability to work 18 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who have completed ENGE 211 and 212 with a grade of B or better. Successful candidates will possess excellent programming, mathematical, and engineering skills associated with Engineering, oral and written communication skills, customer service skills, demonstrated computer proficiency, a team focus, the abilities to both follow instructions and lead others, a Christ-like attitude, and the ability to function responsibly with minimum direct supervision.

Work Hours
