Job Description

The Manager, Research Integrity works closely with faculty, staff and students to promote the highest level of scholarly integrity, public accountability, and social responsibility in the conduct of research. The successful candidate will facilitate the work of faculty and staff who are responsible for oversight of research involving human and animal subjects and of conflicts of interest, development of educational programs and development of policies and procedures. The Manager works to maintain a culture of integrity in research and compliance with legal requirements.


* Coordinate and conduct educational programs
* Build and maintain educational programs aimed at developing awareness among faculty, staff and students
* Organize seminars and workshops as appropriate to build awareness and understanding among faculty, staff and students
* Assist key committees in raising their levels of service to the University and our constituents
* Identify knowledge gaps and key issues encountered by committees and investigators
* Organize and conduct seminars and workshops for faculty, staff and students; including committee members
* Facilitation of research integrity processes
* Manages the daily operations of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Conflict of Interest Review Committee (CIRC)
* Facilitate development of assessment methods and contribute to building a strong culture of continuous process improvement and healthy collaboration between investigators and committees
* Facilitate workflow and operation of IRB, IACUC and CIRC
* In partnership with committee chairs and/ the Director of Research Policy and Compliance, address departures from established processes and protocols, including reporting as required by law and by formal assurances to federal agencies
* In cases of departure from standards, partner with committee chairs/committees/Director of Research Policy and Compliance to conduct root cause analyses, develop corrective action plans, and revise or augment processes and procedures accordingly
* Take a lead role in preparation of assurance documents and serve as primary interface with federal agencies in approval processes and correspondence
* Oversee the work of the Research Integrity Specialist, who is responsible for executive daily tasks and processing submissions for committee review
* Serve as primary interface with federal agencies in approval processes, correspondence, and inspections/audits
* Policy and process development
* Maintain awareness of requirements of agencies and of federal, state and local law and assist in development of policies and processes that enable the university to reliably and efficiently fulfill such requirements
* Work closely with others including the Director of Research Policy and Compliance and committee leadership, to assure that policies and processes enable conduct of research in keeping with the highest expectations of integrity and accountability
* Monitor changes in government regulations and agency policies
* Monitor performance of research integrity processes
* Work with others to design and implement policies and procedures


* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's degree preferred
* Three to five years related work experience
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Solid writing ability and organizational skills
* Solid analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
* Ability to complete projects on time and on budget, and report on status and progress
* Solid computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
* Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, county and national criminal background checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance. Based upon the requirements of the position Lehigh may also request credit history reports, motor vehicle checks and professional license/certification verification



Grade and Hiring Minimum:
