About the role:
This role provides the opportunity for someone to work closely with experienced attorneys and learn the everyday operations involved with running a small legal practice. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate who is interested in learning more about law.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of legal documents including drafting, editing and formatting documents
Coordinate with couriers and court clerks to ensure timely filing and service of legal documents
Create, organize and maintain paper and electronic client files and trial binders
Conduct occasional research upon attorney’s request
Serve as the first point of contact for phone calls from current and prospective clients
Assist with payables and receivables
Other miscellaneous tasks, including some driving
Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks, strong time management and multi-tasking skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Must be self-directed and able to work without strict supervision
Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat
Willingness to learn other programs such as Quickbooks, Relativity, and legal research programs
