Job Description

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Manager Financial Planning & Analysis is to assist the departmental director in the supervision of the daily operations of the department. The position is responsible for overseeing multiple, simultaneous and advanced analytical projects which provide concise, accurate, actionable and strategic recommendations to VCR senior management for both gaming and non-gaming areas.  All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Key Responsibilities

o    Prepare & administer Capital submissions for Corporate & reconcile the G/L with project accounting on a regular basis.

o    Work with property departments to oversee the creation of yearly and long-term Capital plans.

o    Lead bi-weekly capital meetings with senior management.

o    Oversee and automate key analytical reports for the property operating departments.

o    Perform multiple audits including sales commissions and casino host bonuses.

o    Conduct ad-hoc analyses including, but not exclusive to, gaming performance reviews, special event analyses, hotel operational analyses, financial modeling and statistical analyses.

o    Act as a key member of the annual budgets and forecasting process.

o    Execute reports and query data from various systems as requested for the department.

o    Perform additional duties as directed by management.

  • Key Processes

 

o    Provide timely, analytical support for requests at the direction of department heads and senior management.

o    Convert key financial and operating data into strategic and value-added recommendations.

o    Focus on supporting an individual operating area while providing cross-functional support as needed.

o    Assist Corporate Finance with monthly and ad-hoc requests.

o    Ability to effectively manage projects with multiple internal and external groups.

  • Successfully manages the Financial Planning & Analysis Team.
  • Develops staff skills to enhance department effectiveness and manage resources to eliminate excess cost or unnecessary expenditures.
  • Monitors team performance in all phases of service and job functions; rectify deficiencies.
  • Manage staff and organize department functions in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Meet requirements to satisfy Nevada Gaming Employee Registration.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year institution or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English, both in verbal and written form.
  • Candidate possess interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to company appearance standards.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to the company Unmatched Guest Service Standards.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, preferably within the fields of finance, hospitality, accounting, or information technology. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience in financial analysis, information technology, project accounting, or a related field at positions with increasing levels of responsibility required.

·         Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.  

·         Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.  

  • Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain quality, accurate work with a passion for details during very busy times and work unsupervised on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Ability to be flexible and multi-tasked with strong organizational skills.
  • Arrange timeline to independently complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments.  
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.  

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending and kneeling without restriction, work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to CRT fatigue, noise, dust, cigarette smoke.  
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.  
  • Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
