Job Description


The primary responsibility of the Security Officer is to provide for the safety and protection of guests, team members, and company property. The Security Officer is also responsible for anticipating potential problems and seeking ways to prevent disruption, injuries, and prohibited conduct from occurring on company premises. In addition, the Security Officer is responsible for responding to emergency situations as requested and takes appropriate steps to rectify problems and at the same time minimize hotel liability. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo Casino Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. 


  • Key Responsibilities
  • Executes emergency response and evacuation procedures as directed by the manager
  • Monitors and assists in the enforcement of hotel policies and procedures; regulation 6; federal, state and local laws; and pertinent sections of company labor contracts.
  • Provides fire protection in all areas and inspects fire suppression and life safety equipment on a regular basis to ensure it is operational.
  • Oversees the transportation and exchange of all money transactions between the cage, count room, and casino games including fills, chip runs, markers, credits, slot drop and table game drop.
  • Monitors suspicious persons in the hotel/casino, particularly those attempting to enter an unauthorized area. At the discretion of the shift manager, trespass undesirables and troublemakers.
  • Serves as a public relations officer and displays such by the service rendered to guests and fellow team members
  • Other duties as directed by management.
  • Assign the duties to protect or safeguard individuals, property, grounds or designated areas.
  • Patrol, work crowd duty, work parade duty, conduct surveillance, conduct investigation of crime or potential crimes.
  • Protect foreign and domestic dignitaries, celebrities and persons of interest.
  • Positions in this group require education of a specific nature involving: criminology, forensics, investigations, executive protection, sentry duty, hand-to-hand combat, policing, and military training on terrorism prevention.
  • Positions in this group also act as emissaries of peace and deterrents of violence by forming a presence of security and protection.
  • Possess skills to serve the public trust and establish peace.
  • Expedite deflation of a potential threat, evaluate crisis or life-threatening situations, and implement or take action based upon information or situation analysis.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment based on available information related to projects assigned.
  • Direct others for their own protection and self-preservation.
  • Render advice to others, and provide expertise or judgment based on information gathered, studied, processed or reviewed.


  • Key Processes
  • Patrols and/or periodically inspects assigned areas constantly on the lookout for undesirable persons whose presence on the property is not considered to be in the best interest of the hotel/casino management or its guests.
  • Investigates all incidents, accidents, and/or events to include: taking initial report and conducting interviews with appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintains a visible and accessible profile among casino guests and team members to create a sense of security, to deter potential problems, and to answer questions.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English, both in oral and written form.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills with focused attention to guest needs to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Must maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company appearance standards.
  • Must maintain consistent adherence to the Venetian and Palazzo Unmatched Guest Service Standards.
  • Must be available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain/possess a valid Nevada Driver’s License, Gaming Card and Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM) Card.
  • Prior experience in civilian or military law enforcement, casino/hotel security, industrial security, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, interview witnesses and draft legible, factual reports.
  • Knowledge of general first aide.
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local laws pertaining to law enforcement and gaming..
  • Must be able to work with others, communicate well, give direction, review the work of others, and provide guidance and counsel when needed to achieve department goals and objectives.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude toward work and interface with hotel guests in a congenial and polite manner.
  • Must be able to address stressful situations with clients with dignity and the utmost tact and politeness.


Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Physical ability to access and patrol all areas of the property.
  • Must be able to bend from the waist, crouch, stretch, kneel, climb, twist and crawl without restrictions and perform eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • The applicant is responsible to notify the manager of any reasons that they cannot perform any aspect of the physical requirement(s).
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to CRT fatigue, noise, dust, cigarette smoke, variations in weather.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, able to push and/or pull 200 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks assigned.
  • Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
