Job Description

L-3 Technologies, Communication Systems-West (CSW) is seeking an entry level Software Engineer to support all facets of Systems Engineering requirements management in the field of wireless terrestrial, airborne and space communications in support of DoD or space-related programs as it relates to IBM's DOORS requirements management tool and/or its successors. The successful applicant will train users on proper requirements management using DOORS, including creating and maintaining computer-based training modules; manage user accounts and projects; maintain all custom DXL scripts and Word macros associated with DOORS; answer questions and help users perform needed functions within the tool, from importing data into DOORS to creating a deliverable document from DOORS; the successful applicant will troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise with the tool in conjunction with other subject matter experts in the company; and support any effort where the DOORS tool is used, from proposals, programs, product line, customers, and so forth. The successful applicant will evaluate the latest versions of DOORS and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g. Rhapsody, CORE, Genesys, and Magic Draw) and make recommendations to Engineering Management. In addition, the successful applicant will be assigned to support specific programs with requirements management obligations as needed.

* Requires an associate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer programming and 8 years experience in a related field
* Programming and script writing experience a must
* DOORS experience (preferred)
* General programming skills (DXL and Word macros preferred).
* Ability to generate and maintain DXL scripts with DOORS that help users perform their requirements management duties more effectively
* Desire to proliferate good requirements management at CSW, while remaining flexible to program needs.
* Basic understanding of high-rate communications, space environments and related communications complications, necessary redundancies, etc., preferred
* Practical understanding of communication theory, with a working knowledge of digital design, RF design, mechanical design, network design, or software design of digital line-of-sight and satellite communications systems is preferred
* Experience with proposal support, requirements analysis and management, design synthesis, documentation including generation of Statements of Work (SOWs) and specifications, project planning, technical project management, subcontract control, and risk management is preferred
* Strong communication skills (both written and oral) and formal presentation skills are required. The successful applicant should be skilled in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Requisite Pro, or similar tools.

Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicant's skills, education and experience.
