Job Responsibilities

* Work on behavioral based safety and environmental initiatives that will help us advance toward our vision of Zero Harm and Zero Waste.
* Assist with the development of safety and environmental training and policies.
* Aid with the planning of annual conferences.
* Work on department projects that will improve efficiency and collaboration.
* Assist with incident investigations and reviews.
* Help promote, identify and acknowledge exceptional safety and environmental ideas through the iShare Innovation Program.
* Provide other assistance as required.


* Must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in safety or related field
* Must be proficient at Microsoft Office Suite
* Must excel in a team environment
* Ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment

Koppers Inc. is a global integrated provider of carbon compounds and commercial treated wood treatment products for a diverse range of end-markets, such as the aluminum, railroad, specialty chemical, utility, rubber and steel industries. Koppers has two principal businesses: Carbon Materials and Chemicals (CM and C) and Railroad and Utility Products (R and UP). The CM and C business, which accounted for 64% of net sales during the year ended December 31, 2007, distills and processes coal tar to produce carbon pitch, creosote and phthalic anhydride. It has primary operations in North America, Australia, the United Kingdom and Scandinavia. Through the R and UP business, which represented 36% of net sales, Koppers supplies railroad crossties in North America.
