Job Description

Job DescriptionKBCM is a leading, full-service corporate and investment bank dedicated to serving the needs of middle market clients. The program provides interns the opportunity to refine current business skills, learn new ones, and apply them to identify corporate finance and capital markets solutions for our clients.

This internship position is in the lean and rapidly growing China coverage team within the KBCM Tech Investment Banking group. The successful candidate, like all other KBCM investment banking summer interns, will begin with an orientation that introduces them to KeyBank and KeyBanc Capital Markets. As part of the onboarding process, there will be Excel and PowerPoint tips, etiquette training, resume counseling, along with additional on-the-job training to prepare for summer internship. After the orientation, the intern will work alongside and support bankers in the China coverage team while frequently interacting and working with various industry and product group bankers. Due to the small size of the team, the intern will have ample client exposure as well.

Job duties may include:

* Researching technology industries or sectors as determined by senior bankers in targeting certain clients or industries; comparing and contrasting business models in China and US
* Researching and creating marketing pitch materials; developing marketing materials for topics such as company positioning
* Performing comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis and financial model and valuation analysis for potential clients
* Supporting in all phases of deal origination and execution, including drafting memoranda, preparing ad-hoc client presentations and materials, etc.
* Maintaining China tech IPO prospects list, identifying targets, conducting preliminary due diligence and strategizing ways to approach them
* Developing knowledge of relevant information resources: Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Thomson Financial, Pitchbook and 451 Research

Required Qualifications:

* Native fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Mandarin
* Interest in and/or understanding of macro technology market landscape in China
* Fast learner and self-starter
* Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
* Effective oral and written communication skills in both professional English and Chinese environment
* Relevant work or internship experience in investment banking, venture capital, startups or other adjacent fields
* Outstanding academic achievement (minimum GPA 3.5)
* Graduating with a degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related coursework by May 2020
