About This Role:

Kansas State University, Division of Financial Services, is seeking applicants for an Accounting Specialist position in the Cashiers and Student Accounts section. This position is vital to the management of the Third Party Billing Systems for the Manhattan and Salina campuses.

* Prepare Third Party billing statements for assigned Sponsors. Post Third Party Payments to the Sponsor accounts and track and reconcile excess payments of Sponsors. Track payments of Veteran students and assist the University Office of Veterans Affairs; prepare reports as necessary.
* Maintain specific Sponsored Accounts. Assign students to contracts as appropriate, oversee transactions to ensure accuracy, invoice Sponsors. Maintain confidentiality of student accounts. Address questions from students regarding balance due, payment options, non-payment consequence, credit hours billed, financial aid received, address maintenance, billing, schedules, etc.
* Post adjustments in University Cashiering System, CASHNet, as needed for staff within the office and as directed by supervisors. Post bank receipts as necessary and reclassification of deposits as required.
* Process group posting for adjustments to Default Charges, Special Handling Fees, TIPP Fees and Return Item Fees.
* Provide customer service by responding to questions from students and other campus departments regarding deposit procedures, Cashiers and Student Accounts office schedules, student account balance payment due dates, credit balance refunds, third party billings (Sponsorships), student address, etc.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

* Requires high school diploma and six months of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Post High School bookkeeping or accounting classes
* Prefer experience using MS Word products
* Ability to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately
* Ability to detect and reconcile discrepancies in financial data; understand and explain financial data

Other Requirements:

* Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
