Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: This is an entry-level engineering position. Under supervision, the employee will participate in team projects to design, develop, test and sustain microprocessor-based real-time instrumentation and measurement systems. Typical assignments will include:

* Designing integrated systems using a structured approach that includes requirements analysis, market research, local design, prototyping, implementation and development.
* Developing software for real-time acquisition and control systems and associated graphical user interfaces using C and C++ programming languages.
* Testing integrated systems using automated unit test frameworks and debugging tools.
* Supervising field installations and providing engineering support necessary to bring systems to operational status.
* Authoring user manuals and providing training to personnel responsible for operating the fielded product.
* Providing customer support for fielded products.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Each employee must be able to read, understand and follow plans, policies and procedures for business operations, quality, safety and security.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily in an office/lab environment at a remote field site. Routine travel to remote company work locations may be required. The ability to walk, bend, climb stairs, lift up to 40 pounds, and remain in a seated position for up to one hour is required to perform this job.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with embedded software development using C and C++ programming language. Experience with design and development of microprocessor-based instrumentation systems. Experience with QNX or a similar RTOS. Experience with Qt development environment and software libraries. Experience with software development for x86 and ARM architectures. Experience with protocol analyzers, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes. Holds an active TS/SSBI security clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited academic institution. Educated in systems engineering processes covering design, development, manufacturing, testing, integration and sustainment. Familiarity with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded systems design. Familiarity with configuration management and version control concepts and tools. Able to organize, prioritize, plan and complete work assignments on time with minimal supervision. Must qualify for and continuously maintain a government security clearance. Must hold a valid and current driver's license.
