Duties:  Define system requirements, perform analysis, scope projects, and create design documents and detailed technical engineering work orders that allow implementation teams to build systems. Integrate business applications into the large corporate infrastructure across multiple application tiers and technologies, leveraging various Subject Matter Experts as required. Participate in active design reviews. Responsible for ensuring consistent delivery and enablement amongst a team of infrastructure architects and engineers, as well as driving automation using Agile methodology. Contribute to a controlled solution architecture environment, understand and mitigate risk, and time IT experiments in order to minimize the impact of potential failures. Leverage past and existing architecture solutions in order to guide future experiments, and help sustain a safe environment for retrospectives. Develop client relationships and facilitate collaboration. Lead project debriefings and postmortem reflections.

Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study plus seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or seven (7) years of experience as a Solutions Architect, Database Management Analyst, Database Administrator, Software Engineer, Applications Engineer, or related occupation. Experience can be gained pre- or post-Bachelor’s degree.

Skills Required: This position requires seven (7) years of experience with the following skills: financial services (asset management); working with or for global systems integrators or solutions engineers; cross-functional discussions and design reviews; sizing workloads described by business requirements into compute platform requirements; performing multi-year capacity planning of infrastructure service offerings; mapping business requirements to technical solutions; stewarding technical projects through architecture review committees and implementation checkpoints. This position requires seven (7) years of experience with one of three target databases (Oracle, MS-SQL, or Sybase) plus four (4) years of experience with two of three target databases (Oracle, MS-SQL, or Sybase). This position requires four (4) years of experience with the following skills: RHEL and Unix server solutions; and Keon. This position requires one (1) year of experience with the following skills: DB2; GreenPlum; Cassandra; MongoDB; Hadoop; Kafka; Spark; hypervisor; VLDB; database encryption; messaging; zero downtime architectures; and modern computer network infrastructures.
