The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation's lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.

The Technology Legal Practice Group, which reports to the Corporate and Regulatory Law General Counsel, provides legal coverage across all LOBs in the areas of Intellectual Property, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Technology Transactions, and Emerging Technologies.

We are currently seeking an Emerging Technologies Assistant General Counsel to join the Technology Legal Practice Group in our New York City office. Amongst other responsibilities, the Emerging Technologies Assistant General Counsel will:

* Structure and negotiate agreements with vendors, partners, and other third parties related to emerging technologies, including blockchain, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and quantum computing, among others.
* Leverage JPMorgan's position as an industry leader in the blockchain space to help achieve the firm's strategic goals within multi-party collaborations, consortia and projects.


* Draft custom forms of agreement for complex, non-standard engagements and relationships; in particular, act as a contractual thought-leader with respect to unique legal risks and concerns associated with emerging technologies.




* Partner with business, regulatory, and government relations stakeholders to engage, educate, and help guide regulatory and industry policy globally related to crypto-assets, DLT, AI, and other innovative technologies.


* Work with start-up companies to develop innovative banking products and services as part of JPMorgan's Fintech InResidence program; structure engagements with Universities engaging in cutting-edge, emerging technology-related research.


* Build cross-functional teams with business, compliance and strategy partners to solve for novel legal issues presented by the application of new technologies in financial services. Educate internal legal colleagues and serve as in-house legal experts, counseling internal clients with respect to emerging technologies.



Qualifications

* JD or educational equivalent required. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
* Must possess at least 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or corporate law environment with significant experience drafting and negotiating customized transactions with a large multi-product global client base
* Ability to articulate strong knowledge of emerging technology legal issues and business use cases - e.g. artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, machine learning, quantum computing, and virtual currency.
* Strong interest in new and emerging technology solutions and applications
* Deep understanding of the intellectual property issues raised by emerging technologies.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and legal research skills.
* Strong business judgment and strategic thinking.
* Proven ability to independently identify issues, analyze problems and provide viable solutions.
* Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills.
* Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of personnel and management, including senior executives.
* Ability to work under pressure, handle deadlines, and manage multiple tasks in a high performance environment.
* Ability to follow up on assignments in a timely manner, exercise good business judgment and work accurately under pressure.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus across a global matrix organization
