Job Description

Psychology Intern

Full-Time

This position is for the 2020/2021 year.

The purpose of this position is to provide a clinical training experience to psychology interns that is sequential, cumulative and graded in complexity. The training is conducted in a facilitative and supportive manner that provides each psychology intern with the opportunities to experience the practice of psychology with rural and underserved patients and as members of multidisciplinary integrative primary care teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Applicants will be accepted from doctoral candidates in good standing in APA approved graduate programs in a Ph.D. or Psy.D. program in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology.

All applicants are expected to have completed the following training experience:

* Completed at least three (3) years of practicum/field placement or work experience which includes a minimum of 500 hours of direct therapeutic experience and 200 hours of direct assessment experience.
* Have written at least five (5) integrated psychological testing reports.
* Successfully passed their doctoral comprehensive or qualifying examination.

By the beginning of the internship year, the intern will be expected to:

* Have Dissertation/Doctoral Research project proposal approved at the time of application and a timeline presented for data collection, analysis and defense.
* Have a good working knowledge of test administration, scoring and interpretation of cognitive and achievement assessments, behavior rating scales and objectivepersonality/psychopathology measures
* Possess an understanding of child and personality development
* Have a good working knowledge of current psychiatric diagnoses
* Have practicum or work experience providing individual, family, and /or group therapy operating from a variety of evidence-based approaches
* Interns are expected to have sufficient training and experience in psychology to be able to gain maximum benefit from the experience offered and have the endorsement of their graduate program Director of Training.

Duties:

* Provide crisis management, individual and family psychological assessments and treatment to individuals referred by Behavioral Health Consultants. Work in close coordination and collaboration with these providers to fulfill the overall healthcare plan for patients.
* Assessing a patient's needs, abilities or behavior using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of behavior.
* Offering therapy and treatments for difficulties relating to mental health problems such as anxiety, eating disorders, depression, addiction, social and interpersonal problems and challenging behavior.
* Providing consultation to other professions, encouraging a psychological approach in their work
* Follow the guidelines set forth in the Policies and Procedures Intern Training Manual.
* Promotes effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the Clinic's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
* Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the Clinic's overall mission.
* Responsibly follows the Clinic Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
* Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
* All other duties as assigned.
