Job Description

What you will do

Johnson Controls is a leading provider of building and equipment controls. We are looking for an entry level Mechanical Engineering Intern to aid in support of our development team. He/she will work closely with the Engineering team in detailing and documenting the designs used in our products.

How you will do it

* Assist in design and development of electronic enclosures and related components for building controls products. Design may include: injection molding, metal component fabrication, environmental protection and sealing, and vibration resistance.
* Technical aspects of the job include part design, component selection, environmental testing, prototyping, and light fabrication.
* Create CAD models of electronic components to build up Mentor Graphics library.
* Act as library manager for Mentor Graphics parts.
* Work in Windchill and Creo to clean up CAD model assemblies.
* Work in 3D printing lab to create builds and clean finished parts.


What we look for


* Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Able to work at least 12 hours per week when school is in session and full time during semester breaks
* General Mechanical Design skills (math, physics, statics, dynamics, part design)
* CAD layout skills and related design organization skills, preferably Pro/E or Creo (other MCAD tools acceptable, such as SolidWorks)
* Good communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
* Proficient in MS Office

Desired Skills:

* Experience with part fabrication, being able to use equipment such as a mill, lathe, band saw, drill press, etc.
* Enrolled in, or completed, CAD modeling course
* Understanding of general manufacturing processes such as injection molding, metal forming, and die cutting.
* Experience with Mentor Graphics software
