Job Description

Thisis a technical position within the Bioanalytical Sciences group. This group isresponsible for developing, validating, and conducting bioanalytical methodsrelated to large molecule biotherapeutic drug development across alltherapeutic areas of J&J, spanning early research studies, and nonclinicalstudies to post-market clinical development.

Thisposition is in the Research DMPK Assay Development group. The ResearchDMPK Assay Development group develops and validates assays to measurebiopharmaceutical products and their targets (target engagement) in samplesfrom early research studies.

The Co-Op Candidate,Research DMPK Assay Development, will:

* Developmethods to provide PK bioanalytical support for research DMPK studies, e.g.pre-NME selection, post NME efficacy studies, PK/PD mechanistic studies, etc.,for Janssen's biologics.
* Developand implement various biochemical/biophysical/immunological analytical methodsto characterize ADME issues that arise from post-NME nonclinical and clinicalstudies.
* Developand validate assays to quantify protein therapeutics across preclinical GLPstudies and Clinical Phase I-IV trials.
* Developand apply new, efficient technologies for the assay of drug concentrations andbiomarker activity to meet the needs and milestones of clinical studies.
* Assurethat all validation related data documentation is GLP compliant, whenapplicable.
* Supportdata input into laboratory information management systems.
* Troubleshootassays and provide qualified reagents and controls.
* Initiateand perform assigned research activities within established guidelines
* Independentlyrework experiments/analyses based on interpretations and conclusions
* Reviewthe proper operation and maintenance of current laboratory equipment andanalytical instruments
* Collaborate effectively with fellow project membersfollowing priorities, checkpoints and timelines in support of objectives
* Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry or related discipline.
* Candidates must be available to work Full-time.
* Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
* Demonstrated leadership is preferred.
* Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
* Candidates must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
* Candidates need to be proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel (including a high proficiency with generating pivot tables and graphs), and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Additional technical competencies in Sharepoint and other information technology systems are highly desirable, as is experience with PubMed databases and other literature databases.
* Candidates with lab bench experience in academic and/or industrial settings are strongly preferred.
* A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 with motivation to learn new concepts is strongly preferred.
* Participation in campus/community service activities is desired.
