Job Description Summary:    Inspects completed and in-process items, parts, and assemblies for defects and workmanship.  Works from blueprints, diagrams and other specifications as necessary.  Setting the Quality Direction, increasing the talent bench strength, goals, and key performance quality indicators for the plant, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together.  May utilize a variety of precision instruments and devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Applies quality management, problem solving tools to identify and resolve problems
  • Uses sample techniques, statistical analysis, trend analysis, and process capability to reduce defects and variation
  • Anticipates, recognizes, and assesses situations quickly and organizes resources to take appropriate action
  • Ensures uniformity of quality and adherence to specifications in raw materials, in-process materials, and finished parts
  • Establishes and implements procedures to improve quality and reduce operating costs
  • Related duties within the Production Department as assigned by Management

Job Requirements:

 

 

People Contact:   This position requires regular contact with most production positions in order to carry out company policy and programs; and requires abilities of persuasion and negotiation.

 

Decision Making: This position requires frequent decision making and the ability to plan and perform unusual or difficult work with general operation methods/procedures.

 

 

Supervision Received:             Assignments are both task-oriented and objective-oriented. 

Follows established procedures for routine work; receives specific instructions on non-routine

problems.  Completed work is reviewed from a long-term perspective for desired results.

 

 

Education and/or Experience Required:  Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of foremen or managers.

 

Mathematical Skills:  (High Skills)  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:  (High Skills)  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the Essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; walk; talk; and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
