Job Description

As an Accounting intern at the Corporate Office in Willmar, Minnesota, you would report to a senior member of the Accounting staff and work with the Cost Accounting, General Accounting, or Revenue Accounting Team. The full-time, 40 hour per week, summer internship will last approximately three months. You will use your technical skills, but equally important, you will utilize your leadership and interpersonal skills to complete accounting projects.

Responsibilities:

* Compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), document and test transactions pertaining to major accounting systems such as: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Promotional Management, Payroll, and Finished Goods Inventory.
* Reconciliation of construction in progress fixed asset accounts.
* Participate in daily payroll activities to generate the hourly payroll each week.
* Perform analysis of product costs by reviewing meat, processing, labor, overhead, seasoning, and packaging costs.
* Assist in the preparation of profit and loss financial statements, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and Long Range Plan (LRP)
* Provide analysis of sales volumes, margins, and promotional spending.
* Assist in the implementation of new accounting software by creating business user training documents, performing analysis of new accounting software functionality, and testing the new accounting software for user acceptance.
* Process deductions by verifying proper documentation, reviewing necessary approval hierarchy, and contacting brokers for discrepancy resolution.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be a December 2020 or May 2021 grad pursuing a BS in Accounting
* Qualified candidates will have completed their Junior year in Accounting with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.3 Major GPA
* Demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft Excel(intermediate skills)
* Demonstrated strong analytical skills and solid communication skills
